Savannah State University, with its long tradition of serving

Vision
Long the keystone institution in the African-American
community of coastal Georgia, Savannah State University,
serves a critical function by preserving, interpreting, and
transmitting the African-American legacy to future
generations. It accomplishes this in the context of a
student-centered state-of-the-art curriculum emphasizing the
liberal arts combined with technological mastery and social
science competence suitable for the world culture of the 21st
century. The university is building upon its historic role to
provide a contemporary higher education opportunity for
traditional and non-traditional students from the larger
community, regardless of race, and is doing so while working
to elevate the social, cultural, and economic conditions of
its external community and stakeholders. Savannah State
University tempers the learning experience with a blend of
scholarship, research, community service, a passion for
excellence, and an unwavering commitment to community
