Sian Pickles

Sian is an Essex defector who found her way to the end of a Cornish bridal way, via London. Gone are the late night / early morning clubbing sessions and all day Sunday drinking rituals, life has now gone distinctly rural. Out and about in all weathers with her dependably enthusiastic labrahound, it’s the changes in the seasons that catch her attention. She shares pictures, little experiences and any local treasures on her blog Adventures with the Black Dog.

A few questions about nice things...

Who do you most admire?

David Attenborough is a staunch favourite, having spent years exploring and appreciating the natural world and bringing it to the masses via beautiful programs. And generally people who follow their dreams, I’m working on this one myself!

What are your favourite possessions?

Waterproof trousers, wetsuit (with snorkel and mask) and bikini – ready for all weathers!

Tell us about your perfect day or weekend...

A lie in, listening to the bird song in the garden followed by eggs benedict, a potter in the garden and then a trip to a big sandy beach for a stroll and a swim with the dog.

What makes you happiest?

Contentment, which can come in a variety of guises, from the smell of wild flowers or the glimpse of a gorgeous view, through to an old song that brings back good memories.

What would you like to do in the future?

Be my own person, call my own shots and duck out of the desire to conform.
