Coffee, cake and creativity at Jars of Clay pottery cafe in Woodbridge

I love passing the time at a gorgeous ceramics café called Jars of Clay in the super cute village of Woodbridge in Suffolk. The concept is simple; choose a plate, mug or anything else you fancy, paint and customise it as you wish, then return a few days later to collect your glazed and ready-to-use masterpiece.

I’m no artist but it’s so much fun you can forget about your lack of painting ability. They have books and stencils if you find it too daunting, and you can create some really special things. A friend of mine had her baby’s footprints put on a plate and you can also do plates for weddings as an alternative to a guest book. They even hold painting parties for groups.

I know you can find ceramics cafés up and down the country but I particularly love this one for the ambience, calibre of coffee and cake and the friendly owner who is always on hand with inspiration should you need it. It’s a lovely, relaxing way to spend a few hours, being quietly creative and indulging in some of the yummiest coffee and cake around. Best of all, at the end of it, you have a really personal and unique item to take home and put to good use.

It’s definitely worth a visit. I love escaping there when I’m in Suffolk.
